Suspect charged in connection with armed threat at Howard Park

A suspect has been arrested and charged in connection with an armed threat at Howard Park.
On Tuesday, Aug. 26, around 8:15 p.m., South Bend Police were called to Howard Park on the report of a male running around the park, threatening to stab people with a knife.
Upon arrival, officers located, disarmed and detained 43-year-old Derrick V. Myers, who was in possession of a steak knife.
Officers spoke to witnesses, who stated Myers followed some parkgoers saying, “I’m gonna stab you, I’m gonna kill you.”
Witnesses also said they shouted at other parkgoers, telling them to run away.
Myers was arrested and transported to the St. Joseph County Jail.
On Wednesday, the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office charged Myers with Intimidation.

Dude is lucky he didn’t get shot. Lucky for him, the only people in South Bend after dark aside from criminals are hoplophobe leftists.
