A two-vehicle collision at the intersection of County Roads 17 and 18 in Elkhart County resulted in multiple injuries.
The crash occurred at approximately just after 9 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30, when a 2019 Chevrolet truck traveling north on CR 17 struck the passenger side of a 2017 Ford Fusion that was turning east onto CR 18 from the southbound lane.
Two adults and an infant were in the truck. The driver sustained mouth lacerations, while an adult passenger reported abdominal pain. The 6-month-old infant, secured in a car seat, was uninjured. All occupants of the truck were treated at the scene.
The Ford Fusion’s driver, who was the sole occupant at the time of the crash, suffered a head laceration and back pain and was transported to Elkhart General Hospital. A passenger in the Ford, whose presence was not initially noted, was later identified and taken to South Bend Memorial Hospital with injuries to the lower extremities.
The crash remains under investigation by local authorities.
