Senator Jim Banks has introduced the DC Criminal Reforms to Immediately Make Everyone Safe Act.

The bill supports President Trump’s effort to restore law and order in the nation’s capital by cracking down on violent crime and enforcing consequences.

The act lowers the age of youth offenders from 24 to 18 and removes judicial discretion to sentence youth offenders below statutory mandatory minimums.

The D.C. Attorney General will also be required to collect and public data on juvenile crime in D.C.

It all comes due to the public safety crisis in D.C. as violent crime and robberies are still on the rise.
