Mishawaka man seriously injured in motorcycle crash on Ash Road

A Mishawaka man was critically injured Friday afternoon in a crash involving a motorcycle and an SUV on Ash Road south of Jefferson Boulevard.
According to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened just before 4 p.m. on Friday, Sep. 12. when a northbound 2005 Harley-Davidson motorcycle struck the rear of a 2021 Audi SQ5 that had stopped in traffic.
The 24-year-old Mishawaka man was ejected from the bike and suffered severe head and leg injuries. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was transported to Memorial Hospital in South Bend with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Audi, a 26-year-old Mishawaka man,was wearing a seatbelt and was not hurt.
The crash remains under investigation by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Crash Investigation Team.
