Goshen Recycling Center permanently closed

The City of Goshen has announced that the Goshen Recycling Center, located at 802 N. Indiana Avenue, will not reopen following its suspension earlier this summer.
City officials said continual misuse, illegal dumping, and increasing financial strain led to the decision. Operations were first halted in July after staff were routinely overextended trying to manage improper waste disposal. Budget pressures tied to Indiana Senate Enrolled Act 1 further influenced the decision to shutter the facility for good.
“We remain sympathetic to those who used the center responsibly,” city leaders said in a statement, thanking Elkhart County officials, city staff, and Republic Services for their assistance in keeping the facility operational in recent years. Officials added that permanently closing the center was the most fiscally responsible path forward.
