Friends, family, and fellow officers rallied Sunday to support a South Bend police officer battling cancer.
Officer Travis Kukla, 33, was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma and is undergoing six months of chemotherapy.
He has served with the department for 11 years and is also a husband and father to a one-year-old daughter.
To help with medical and family expenses, the South Bend Fraternal Order of Police hosted a fundraiser at Brookwood Golf Course.
Officers and community members spent the day golfing and donating in his honor.
Detective Bryan Watkins said the goal is to ease some of the stress Kukla is facing so he can focus on getting healthy and back to work.
