USDA issues health alert for HelloFresh ready-made meals over Listeria risk

(95.3 MNC)
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a public health alert for certain HelloFresh Ready-Made Meals after a spinach ingredient tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes, a potentially dangerous foodborne bacteria.
The affected meals were produced by FreshRealm and shipped directly to consumers. The spinach ingredient, supplied by Sno Pac Foods and regulated by the FDA, was recalled earlier due to contamination concerns.
The recalled items include:
10.1-oz. “Cheesy Pulled Pork Pepper Pasta” (Lot codes 49107 and 48840)
10-oz. “Unstuffed Peppers with Ground Turkey” (Lot codes 50069, 50073, and 50698)
These meals were distributed through HelloFresh and bear establishment numbers Est. 47718, Est. 2937, or P-47718.
Consumers are urged not to eat the products. FSIS advises anyone who purchased the affected meals to throw them away or return them to the place of purchase. Officials say additional products could be added to the recall as the investigation continues.
So far, no illnesses have been reported. However, Listeria infections can cause serious and sometimes fatal illness, particularly in older adults, pregnant women, and people with weakened immune systems. Common symptoms include fever, muscle aches, nausea, confusion, and digestive distress.
Consumers can find the latest updates and affected product details on the FSIS website. Anyone who experiences symptoms after eating the recalled meals should contact a healthcare provider immediately.
