Driver Arrested for OWI After Crashing Into Utility Pole Near Syracuse

A Millersburg man was arrested after crashing his vehicle into a utility pole while allegedly driving under the influence, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say 32-year-old Timothy J. Wright was driving a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee north on County Road 127, just south of County Road 52, around 11:55 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 12, when he crossed the center line and veered off the east side of the road. The vehicle struck a utility pole with its front passenger side before continuing north and coming to rest at the intersection of County Road 52.
Wright was taken to Goshen Hospital for complaints of head and knee pain. Deputies conducted field sobriety tests and reported signs of impairment. He was later arrested for Operating While Intoxicated – Endangerment and transported to the Elkhart County Jail.
In addition to the OWI charge, Wright was cited for unsafe lane movement.
