Court documents show a Mishawaka couple has been sentenced for trapping and assaulting a woman in March.

Bryant Lacey was found guilty of multiple charges, including unlawful possession of a firearm and criminal confinement resulting in serious bodily injury, earning him 25 years in prison.

Lacey was previously convicted of voluntary manslaughter in 2017. His co-defendant, Kassandra Richter, pleaded guilty to aiding in criminal confinement and was sentenced to two years in prison and two and a half years with community corrections.

Police say the victim escaped by jumping from a second-story window after being beaten and threatened inside Lacey’s Main Street home.

Maybe we should be giving people more than 8 years for manslaughter? Just a thought.
