Indiana residents can safely dispose of unwanted or expired medications this Saturday, Oct. 25, during the DEA’s national “Prescription Drug Take Back” event. The Indiana State Police is partnering with the Drug Enforcement Administration to collect and properly dispose of old prescriptions, preventing misuse and protecting the environment.
Pill and liquid medications will be accepted at all Indiana State Police posts-except the Toll Road Post-from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The service is free and anonymous, with no questions asked. Needles and sharps will not be accepted.
Officials say the program helps curb prescription drug abuse and accidental poisonings by keeping unused medicine out of homes and landfills. Residents are urged not to flush or throw away medications, as those methods can pose health and safety risks.
