A LaPorte County man arrested in a 2020 Michigan City crime spree has been sentenced to 40 years in prison.

Court documents show Demarcus Williams pleaded guilty to Rape, Burglary, and Child Molesting after originally facing 12 counts. Williams received 16 years for Rape, and 12 years each for Burglary and Child Molesting.

The judge ordered the sentences to run consecutively. In the sentencing order, the court cited aggravating factors and said Williams had been malingering during competency evaluations, showing what it called a “disdain for the law” and an inability to follow it.

The order concludes that consecutive time is warranted to protect the community and victims.
