The South Shore Line is giving families a holiday gift to help keep busy over winter break.

They’re letting kids ride for free on every train through the New Year. From December 19th to January 2nd, up to three children age 13 and under can ride any South Shore train for free when traveling with a parent or guardian.

That includes weekend, holiday, off-peak and even rush-hour service. Holiday schedules will be in place on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve.

South Shore Line’s Nicole Barker says expanding the promotion makes holiday travel easier and more affordable for families heading into Chicago or around Northwest Indiana. Riders can find schedules and details on the South Shore Line website or mobile app.
