The Elkhart County Prosecutor’s Office has filed formal charges against a 50-year-old Elkhart woman in connection with a stabbing that left another woman seriously injured earlier this month.
Prosecutors charged Felicia Lane, 50, with attempted aggravated battery, a Level 3 felony, stemming from a December 10 stabbing in the 1200 block of West Hubbard Avenue.
According to Elkhart police, officers and first responders were dispatched around 12:25 p.m. after the Elkhart City Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a stabbing. When crews arrived, they found two adult women injured – the victim and the suspect.
Elkhart Fire Department medics treated both women at the scene before transporting them to a hospital. Police said the 39-year-old victim suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and told officers she was stabbed in the chest by her cousin, Lane.
Lane was treated for her injuries and later booked into the Elkhart County Jail on preliminary charges. On Wednesday, the prosecutor’s office formally filed the attempted aggravated battery charge in the case.
A judicial officer has ordered Lane to remain held in the Elkhart County Jail without bond pending a court hearing scheduled for December 18.
