Benton Harbor’s City Commissioners have voted to move forward with repairs to the Bobo Brazil Community Center.
More than half a million dollars in state grants will support Phase 2 of the renovations at the center, named for the Benton Harbor native and professional wrestler who spent four decades in the ring and is widely considered one of the men who broke the sports’ racial barrier in the 1950s.
WSJM reports the second phase will work the front of the facility, replace the bathrooms, and more. The vote to move forward with the $521,000 grant was unanimous.
