The St. Joseph County Fatal Crash Team continues to investigate a multi-vehicle fatal crash on South Bend’s south side.

On Friday, Jan. 2, around 1:40 p.m., officers from the South Bend and St. Joseph County Police Departments were called to the area of Ironwood Drive and Jackson Road on the report of a three-vehicle collision.

One of the drivers of the involved vehicles, Michael Garrage, 59, of South Bend, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The preliminary investigation suggests Garrage suffered a medical episode prior to the collision.

Two other people involved in the crash were treated at the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
