Layoffs are underway at Warsaw-based orthopedic manufacturer Zimmer Biomet.

Company officials say they are not disclosing the total number of employees affected, noting that most of the layoffs are occurring outside the Warsaw area.

Zimmer Biomet operates facilities worldwide. According to WSBT, a company spokesperson says the workforce reduction is part of an effort to “right-size the organization” and better align resources with near-term business priorities.

Officials say the layoffs at individual locations are not large enough to trigger a federal WARN notice, which is required when large employers lay off 50 or more workers at a single site.

Zimmer Biomet says it is providing support to help affected employees transition to new employment opportunities.
