South Bend Police investigating homicide on city’s northwest side

South Bend Police are investigating a homicide on the city’s northwest side.

According to the South Bend Police Department, officers were dispatched around 3 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 25, to the 700 block of North Brookfield Street after a ShotSpotter alert detected gunfire in the area.

When officers arrived, they found a man  suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Despite life-saving efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The case remains an active and ongoing investigation by the South Bend Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit.
