A military jury has found the man accused in the death of a Ligonier soldier guilty after a week-long court-martial.
U.S. Army Specialist Wooster Rancy was convicted of murder and obstruction of justice.
Prosecutors say Rancy killed 23-year-old Sgt. Sarah Roque and left her body inside a trash container on the Fort Leonard Wood Army base.
Roque was reported missing in late October, 2024, after she failed to report for morning unit formation. She served as a bridge crewmember and K-9 mine dog handler with the 5th Engineer Battalion.
She enlisted in 2020 and earned multiple military awards during her service.
