A 58-year-old Goshen man is facing multiple charges after police say he crashed a moped while intoxicated.
Officers with the Goshen Police Department were dispatched around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, to the area of College Avenue and Kentfield Way for a reported accident involving a man on a moped with injuries.
When officers arrived, they determined the 58-year-old was allegedly operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. Police say he also has a prior conviction for operating while intoxicated and is classified as a habitual traffic violator for life.
According to the police report, the man was given a preliminary breath test at the scene, which showed a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.199%, more than twice Indiana’s legal limit.
He was transported to Goshen Hospital for treatment following the crash. While at the hospital, officers read him Indiana’s implied consent warning, and he agreed to a certified chemical test. Results of that test are still pending.
Police say a report has been completed. As with all cases, charges are allegations until proven in court.
