A proposed casino in Steuben County could bring in up to $18 million a year and create 800 to 1,200 jobs, County Commissioner Andy Laughlin said.

The study, released by the Steuben County Economic Development Corporation, follows a state amendment adding Steuben and DeKalb counties as potential casino sites.

Most of the revenue would come from out-of-state visitors, thanks to the county’s location near Michigan and Ohio.

Laughlin said a casino could also include a resort, concert venue, and conference space, boosting tourism.

He noted the county is looking at housing options to support the new workforce. No location is set yet, but a site near the I-69 and I-80/I-90 interchange is under consideration.
