Partnership brings paid summer jobs to South Bend teens

Local teens in St. Joseph County will soon have new access to paid summer jobs through a partnership between the Youth Service Bureau and TeenWorks.

The six-week program connects teens with hands-on work experience at local nonprofits, including Unity Gardens and the Food Bank, while building skills in resume writing, financial literacy, communication and career exploration.

TeenWorks leaders say the expansion into South Bend will help reach more underserved youth, while YSB officials say the program offers a chance for teens to earn money and plan for their future.

The program will operate out of the YSB Center for Youth Success and begins June 17 with a kickoff event for students and families.
