The 33rd annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is set for Saturday, May 9, with letter carriers across the country collecting donations to fight hunger.

Organized by the National Association of Letter Carriers, it’s the nation’s largest one-day food drive.

Locally, donations will support the Food Bank of Northern Indiana, with a goal of collecting 100,000 pounds of food.

Residents are asked to leave non-perishable items by their mailbox by 8 a.m. Officials say the need is high, with more than 111,000 people in northern Indiana facing food insecurity.

Donations will help stock shelves during the summer months.
