Elkhart Police Department will host its annual Peace Officers Memorial Service on Thursday as part of National Police Week observances.

The ceremony is scheduled for May 14 from 11 a.m. to noon at the Central Green Stage, located at 300 South Main Street in downtown Elkhart.

The event honors police officers who died in the line of duty.

The memorial service will include performances by local students, remarks from the interim police chief and a community speaker. The public is invited to attend.
