UPDATE: Silver Alert issued for missing South Bend man cancelled, man safe

UPDATE: Sims was located and is safe, according to South Bend Police.

ORIGINAL STORY: A Statewide Silver Alert has been declared for a missing South Bend man.

The South Bend Police Department is investigating the disappearance of Robert Sims, a 69-year-old Black male, 5 feet 9 inches tall, 154 pounds, gray hair with brown eyes, last seen wearing a white sweater with a blue line across it, brown pants, and a fedora hat.

Robert is missing from South Bend and was last seen on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at 2 p.m.  He is believed to be in extreme danger and may require medical assistance.
