Congressman Walberg votes to tighten bail policies

Michigan Congressman Tim Walberg has voted for several House-passed bills aimed at supporting law enforcement and tightening bail policies.

One measure would require judges and prosecutors to have access to a defendant’s criminal history and place stricter federal oversight on bail bond practices.

Another would require the U.S. Attorney General to publish a public list of jurisdictions allowing certain serious offenders to be released without cash bail.

Walberg says the legislation helps close loopholes and gives law enforcement more tools to keep dangerous offenders off the streets.
