A New Paris man charged in a deadly crash involving a horse-drawn cart is now set for trial this fall.
40-year-old Jason Hoover appeared in court on multiple felony charges tied to the February crash on State Road 4.
Investigators say Hoover’s pickup truck slammed into the back of the cart, killing 8-year-old Jenna Miller and 7-year-old Derek Bontrager, along with the pony pulling the cart.
The Goshen News says two other children suffered serious injuries.
Police say Hoover was allegedly intoxicated at the time. A judge moved Hoover’s jury trial from August to October 5, with a bond hearing now scheduled for June 4.
