Pedestrian killed in Elkhart County crash

A woman died after being struck by a vehicle in Elkhart County.
The crash happened around 4 a.m. on Monday, May 18, on County Road 17, just north of State Road 120.
According to investigators, a 45-year-old Bristol man was driving a 2020 Audi A4 southbound on County Road 17 when a pedestrian reportedly entered the roadway as the driver was attempting to move into the left turn lane.
Police say the vehicle struck 53-year-old Cynthia M. Barnhart. She was taken to Elkhart General Hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
The driver was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured in the crash.
The Elkhart County Crash Investigation Team is continuing to investigate the incident.
