A man who fled during sentencing in St. Joseph County is back in custody. Police say Cameron Beelaert ran from the courthouse May 14 while being sentenced on meth and theft charges.
Investigators later tracked him down in South Bend, but say he rammed a patrol vehicle and led officers on a chase before escaping again.
Authorities finally arrested Beelaert Tuesday in Bristol with help from several agencies, including the U.S. Marshals Task Force.
He’s now awaiting extradition back to St. Joseph County and could face additional charges for resisting law enforcement.
