An Elkhart woman will serve time in prison for a drunk driving crash that seriously injured a local couple riding motorcycles. 

20-year-old Rachel Sherman pleaded guilty after the crash on State Road 19 near Rosedale Drive.

Investigators say Sherman failed to yield while turning and struck two motorcycles.

The Goshen News says one man suffered a traumatic brain injury and remains bedridden. During sentencing, family members described the lasting impact the crash has had on both families.

Sherman was sentenced to 13 years, with seven years suspended to probation.
