A Honduran national has been sentenced in federal court after illegally returning to the United States following two previous deportations.
Forty-nine-year-old Nery Leonel Rivera was sentenced to seven months in prison after pleading guilty to felony reentry of a removed alien.
Federal prosecutors say Rivera was deported twice in 2015 after a cocaine conviction, then returned to the U.S. again. Investigators say they found him in Indiana while looking into an identity theft case, alleging he used fraudulent identification documents and another person’s identity to obtain employment.
