Goshen man charged after alleged street race in South Bend

(Tommie Lee/MNC)
A Goshen man is facing charges after police say he took part in an illegal street race in South Bend.
Officers responding to reports of a large gathering Sunday near Nimtz Parkway and Moreau Court found about 100 vehicles in the area. Police say they saw two vehicles racing at high speed and attempted a traffic stop.
Investigators say one driver, identified as Madden Douglas, kept going before eventually stopping and being arrested. He’s charged with resisting law enforcement and competing in a speed contest. No court date has been scheduled.
