A South Bend man charged in his wife’s 2007 murder has been released from jail while awaiting trial.
Lucio Lerma had been held without bond after being charged in March in the death of his wife, Delia. On Friday, a judge ordered Lerma released on his own recognizance despite objections from prosecutors.
Court records show both sides have also been ordered to confirm witness availability to help avoid delays. Lerma’s jury trial is scheduled to begin November 16.
