The City of Elkhart and the Elkhart Parks and Recreation Department invite the community to celebrate Independence Day on Saturday, July 4, with an evening of patriotic traditions, live entertainment, local food, and the largest fireworks show in Elkhart Parks & Recreation’s history. The FREE celebration takes place at Central Green in Downtown Elkhart.
The festivities begin at 5 p.m., when food trucks open, offering a variety of local favorites throughout the evening.
At 5:30 p.m., the community is invited to gather for a Veteran Recognition and Flag Retirement Ceremony, honoring those who have served our country while respectfully retiring worn American flags. The ceremony sets the tone for an evening centered on celebrating both our nation’s independence and those who have defended it.
Live music starts at 6 p.m. with an evening of entertainment leading up to crowd favorite Party Foul, who take the stage at 8 p.m. Known for their high-energy performance and wide variety of hits, Party Foul will keep the celebration going until the night’s grand finale.
At approximately 10 p.m., the sky above downtown Elkhart will come alive with a spectacular America 250 Fireworks Show. Designed to be the largest display ever presented by Elkhart Parks & Recreation, this year’s show celebrates the United States’ 250th anniversary with an expanded fireworks experience.
Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating. Please note that tents and canopies are prohibited.
“Every year, this celebration brings our community together, but this year is especially meaningful,” said Liz Stoutenour, Parks & Recreation Event Coordinator. “With the America 250 theme, a special ceremony honoring our veterans, and the largest fireworks show we’ve ever produced, we’re excited to create an unforgettable Independence Day celebration for families throughout the region.”
