Benton Harbor city commissioners support new public transportation authority

Benton Harbor city commissioners are supporting the creation of a new countywide public transportation authority.

The move comes after MDOT announced plans to end funding for the Twin Cities Area Transportation Authority and Dial A Ride service in October.

Supporters say the new agency would combine TCATA and Berrien Bus services while keeping operations in Benton Harbor.

One commissioner opposed the plan, citing concerns over financial impacts. WSJM reports the resolution passed with one no vote.
