South Bend Police found justified in fatal shooting

The St. Joseph County Prosecutor says South Bend police were justified in the fatal shooting of 35-year-old Jujuan Bates.
Police say officers responded to a reported protection order violation, where Bates refused repeated commands to drop a gun.
Investigators say he walked through a neighborhood and later fired a shot into the air before three officers shot him.
Bates’ family says officers should have used mental health resources before using deadly force and is conducting its own investigation.
