The South Bend Cubs will introduce a new holiday attraction at Four Winds Field this winter with the debut of Holiday Lights on the Diamond, a walk-through light display that organizers hope will become an annual tradition.

The event will run from Nov. 13 through Jan. 2 and feature more than one million lights throughout the ballpark and across the playing field.

Visitors will be able to enjoy a variety of holiday-themed activities, including train rides, a s’mores station, visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus, themed concessions, and appearances by Cubs mascots Stu and Ivy. Free parking will be available throughout the event.

The Cubs Den Team Store will also be open each evening, giving visitors an opportunity to shop for holiday gifts. Team officials say a holiday shopping guide featuring special discounts and promotions will be released later this year.

Holiday-themed fireworks shows are planned for opening night on Nov. 13 and again on New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31.

Gates will open daily at 6 p.m. The attraction will close at 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Special holiday hours are planned for Thanksgiving and Christmas Day, although officials note that operating hours are subject to change.

The 45-day event marks the first holiday light festival hosted at Four Winds Field. The South Bend Cubs say Holiday Lights on the Diamond is planned to return each winter for at least the next five years.
