Some Cass County residents are calling for local governments to work together on rules for any future data centers.
Residents and organizers recently met to discuss concerns prompted by the Hyperscale Data Center in Dowagiac. Neighbors say noise from that facility has disrupted their lives for months.
Organizers want Cass County’s 15 townships to coordinate their approach to future proposals, including zoning protections and possible agreements requiring developers to invest in roads, emergency services and community organizations.
Supporters of the effort say acting together could give local governments more leverage if additional data centers are proposed.
