An Elkhart County man has been sentenced to prison after pleading guilty in a child neglect case involving his infant daughter.
Brady Rouch was sentenced to three years in prison, followed by three-and-a-half years in the Elkhart County Jail and another three-and-a-half years on probation after pleading guilty to neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury.
The case began in March of last year when his two-month-old daughter was taken from Goshen General Hospital to Riley Hospital for Children with life-threatening injuries, including broken bones and bleeding on the brain.
Investigators say the parents claimed the baby struck her head while being lifted from a bathtub and wasn’t taken to the hospital until days later after she began suffering seizures and vomiting.
Court records show Rouch later admitted he had repeatedly tossed the baby into the air without properly supporting her neck.
