A juvenile is in custody following an armed confrontation with deputies in Cass County.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to the area of Dailey Road and Pine Lake Street in Jefferson Township around 2 Sunday afternoon after reports of a masked person with a gun trying to break into a home.

Investigators say the juvenile pointed a firearm at deputies, prompting one deputy to fire a shot. The suspect dropped the gun and ran.

Authorities say the juvenile later threatened deputies with knives before an assisting officer used a Taser and took the suspect into custody.

No injuries were reported, and the juvenile was taken to a detention facility. The investigation remains underway.
