A 20-year-old Elkhart man is now formally charged in connection with a deadly hit-and-run collision.
Police say Hugo Loza Junior struck and killed Jose Redondo on Main Street, last week, before driving away.
Court documents say several teenagers witnessed the crash and followed the suspect’s vehicle while calling police.
Charging documents say Loza had a blood-alcohol level of .128.
He allegedly told investigators he had a gap in his memory and may have been changing music on his phone when the crash happened.
He remains jailed on $300,000 bond.
