Habitat for Humanity of St. Joseph County broke ground on Wednesday, Aug. 12, on a new 50-home neighborhood in Mishawaka.
The Woodfield Crossing development is planned near McKinley and Byrkit avenues and is intended to create more affordable homeownership opportunities for working families.
The project is part of the Tri-County Workforce Homeownership Initiative involving Habitat organizations in St. Joseph, Elkhart and Marshall counties.
The regional effort is supported by READI 2-point-0 and other public and private investments aimed at expanding workforce housing across northern Indiana.

Can we please stop dumping tax dollars into buying homes for people? It’s really no better than buying a new stadium for the Bears.
Call me crazy, but I think people should buy their own stuff.
