Illinois man killed in a three-semi crash on U.S. 30 in Pierceton

An Illinois man was killed in a three-semi crash Sunday night on U.S. 30 in Pierceton.

The crash happened around 8:15 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 30 and State Road 13, according to the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators say two westbound semis were stopped at the intersection when a third semi struck the rear of one truck before continuing forward and hitting the second.

The driver of the third semi, 65-year-old Richard L. Bacorn of Orland Park, Illinois, was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries suffered in the crash.

The other two drivers, a 47-year-old Fort Wayne man and a 41-year-old Zanesville, Ohio, man, were not injured.

The crash remains under investigation by the Kosciusko County FACT Team.
