A new report says Indiana is one of the states with the lowest credit card debt per consumer.
According to new data released by digital personal finance company Achieve.com, balances across the country have reached $4,350 per person.
The study compares balances in the 4th quarters of the last two years, and the 2025 4th quarter national average.
Indiana sits in 7th place with an average balance of $3,410. That’s still 21.6% below the U.S. average and $940 less than the national figure. Credit card debt increased by $100, or 3%, compared with the previous year.
Michigan ranked 32nd overall in the study, and Ohio was 35th.
