Emergency workers responded to a major gas main leak in Mishawaka Wednesday morning.

Evacuations were declared and traffic was diverted around the area for several hours and NIPSCO workers were able to cap the leak around 3:30 p.m.

Additional work was expected to repair the affected gas line.
