Elkhart County man gets 14 year sentence after death of two-week-old son

An Elkhart County man has been sentenced to 14 years after pleading guilty in connection with the 2022 death of his two-week-old son.

According to The Goshen News, Nick Hunsberger Junior pleaded guilty to neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury.

Court documents say the infant was found unresponsive after sleeping in the same bed as his parents.

Investigators found both parents had drugs in their systems.

Five years of Hunsberger’s sentence are suspended to Elkhart County Community Corrections, with a recommendation for home detention.
