LaPorte County has been ranked the loneliest county in Indiana.

A study by C-B-D company Mood.com analyzed C.D.C. estimates based on how often adults report feeling lonely. The research found nearly 38 percent of adults in LaPorte County feel lonely at least some of the time. That ranks the county 44th nationwide.

Elkhart County ranks seventh in Indiana and 71st nationally, with just over 35 percent of adults reporting loneliness. St. Joseph County ranks ninth in the state and 73rd nationwide, at nearly 35 percent.

Statewide, about one-third of Indiana adults say they experience loneliness. Hamilton County ranked as the state’s least lonely county, at 29 percent.
