Buchanan has received a 385-thousand-dollar state grant for another phase of improvements at Riverfront Park.
The money from the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund will help expand public access to the St. Joseph River. Planned additions include restrooms and a fishing platform.
Earlier work at the park included a boat launch, an accessible canoe and kayak launch, parking improvements and other site upgrades. City leaders expect the newest phase to move forward during the next fiscal year.

It’s too bad they couldn’t use this money to repay the businesses that lost tons of money during their unending downtown road rip-up debacle, when no one could even get to most of the stores.
