Michiana residents warned of suspected home improvement scams

The St. Joseph County Police Department is warning Michiana residents about suspected home improvement scams.
Police say people are posing as representatives of local companies and going door to door, recommending work that they claim needs to be done.
Investigators say some residents are then given a price, only to have scammers demand additional money without completing the work.
Police recommend checking a contractor’s credentials through legitimate sources and getting all work and pricing in writing before agreeing to anything.
Anyone with questions or concerns should contact police.
