FEMA is providing more than $17 million to communities across the midwest to help prepare for future disasters. 

More than $14.9 million will fund mitigation projects, including efforts to reduce flood risks.

Another $1.9 million will support floodplain management.

Illinois and Indiana will also receive more than $123,000 for earthquake preparedness, including training and emergency exercises.
