Sturgis is ending its contract for Flock license-plate reader cameras.

The Sturgis City Commission says the contract will not be renewed when it expires at the end of the year because of budget concerns.

Public Safety Director Ryan Banaszak says the cameras have been useful, but city leaders had to make difficult spending decisions.

The cameras will remain in place for now, but they will no longer operate once the contract expires.
